The Lines 'Tween Me And You

We know that the world is a cruel place
And no one is safe from her harms . . .
But evil isn't she,
It's more of you and me
And all of the people caught here, all around us . . .

Keeping us apart, pushing
From the line we want to tread
The thought of us together brings them dread . . .
Caught in my hopeless wishing
Not knowing what I must . . . do
Dreaming of the lines 'tween me and you

Oh, why can't the world see our problem
Why can't they try to understand
Why must they yell and hate
And eternally rate
The decisions of all the other people . . .

Furries and humans with hate
Seeing evil in all but in
Believing that there is a war to win . . .
Are we too early, or are we too late?
Are these dreams of hope too new
To tear down those lines drawn 'tween me and you . . .

I know that I'm not perfect
I know that I have sinned . . .
But I can't be apart
From the other half my heart
Caught behind the walls of tails and noses . . .

If our cities won't let us wed
We'll simply run away;
Create a Grandville from the spots of gray . . .
Perhaps we'll leave hope in our stead,
Perhaps we'll have naught in our lieu . . .
But it won't matter, long as I've got you.

Author's Note:

I did this, inspired by the Gene Catlow comic.  It's about a couple who wants to go beyond the lines drawn between the furry and non-furry communities, who like or love one another, and their wish to do anything they must in order to be together. This actually had a tune to go along with it, but I don't know how to write down music, and I forgot what I had in mind . . .

Anyhow, that's all.
